What is Counselling?
Counselling is a collaborative effort between the counselor and client. Professional counselors help clients identify goals and potential solutions to problems which cause emotional turmoil; seek to improve communication and coping skills; strengthen self-esteem; and promote behavior change and optimal mental health. Counselling focuses on resolving matters arising from a variety of emotions causing some anxiety or blockage.
All About Me
My name is Maryam Khan Waglay and I have been helping my clients since 2016. I have focused on their individual and family wellness needs by providing the guidance and resources needed to understand the root cause of their issues and develop a plan that works for them. In addition to counselling, I provide coaching, career guidance counselling and wellness interventions/ training. I am a Specialist Wellness Counsellor registered with the Association for Supportive Counsellors and Holistic Practitioners of South Africa (ASCHP), a registered BrainWorking® Recursive Therapy Practitioner, Counselling Practitioner certified by The Academy of Modern Applied Psychology, a Career Development Practitioner with SACDA, an Industrial Psychologist registered with the HPCSA and a trained coach. I provide counselling at a individual level as well as between individuals by offering relationship counselling.
I aim to create a life balance that prioritizes everyone’s wellbeing and applying relevant psychological principles. I specialize in creating personalized plans and providing the necessary tools and resources to guide, support, and assist you in achieving your desired outcomes.
The essence of my work is to facilitate understanding by helping identify the source of the issues, so that you can effectively overcome them confidently and for the long-term.
